Our Story

ASI began as the American Sanitation Institute. The letters no longer stand for anything specific, but we kept them to honor that history. Today we're Kiwa ASI.

    ASI joins the Kiwa group

    On December 1, 2022, ASI joined Kiwa to expand food, feed and farm certification in North America. Read the announcement.

    Tyler Williams becomes CEO

    Tyler Williams, previously ASI's CTO, succeeded Charray Williams as CEO on January 1, 2023.

  • January 2026

    TSLC becomes part of Kiwa ASI

    Kiwa ASI announced on January 20, 2026 that TSLC, a CanadaGAP-licensed certification body in Canada, has become part of Kiwa ASI. See CanadaGAP certification.

    In February 2026, ASI took the Kiwa ASI name and brand, bringing it in line with the Kiwa group.

Accreditation & Impartiality

Kiwa ASI's certification body, ASI Food Safety, LLC, is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to ISO/IEC 17065 (accreditation ID 1222) for SQF certification (the SQF Food Safety Codes and Quality Code, Edition 9) and for CanadaGAP (Version 11.0). BRCGS, IFS, FSSC 22000 and PrimusGFS certificates are issued by Kiwa group certification bodies that hold those approvals, with Kiwa ASI as your U.S. office and point of contact.

Clients can appeal certification decisions at no cost, and appeals are reviewed by people who weren't involved in the decision. See customer appeals.
